Land of oak and iron
The Land of Oak and Iron, a community and heritage initiative supported by the charity Groundwork, needed a fresh digital presence. Their existing websites were outdated, fragmented across multiple domains, and increasingly vulnerable due to unmaintained plugins and security concerns.
Instilled was brought in to consolidate their online presence and build a brand-new, fully integrated WordPress website—combining security, simplicity, and storytelling.
From the start, the brief was clear: streamline the booking process for the Heritage Centre, clarify the relationship between different sites, encourage volunteers and donations, and showcase their connection to Groundwork’s wider community and environmental work.
We began with a full plugin audit, removing unnecessary tools and updating those essential for functionality. This step dramatically improved performance, security, and ease of management for the LOI team.
Branding also got a refresh. We worked with LOI to evolve their visual identity, introducing a cohesive and inspiring design that better reflected their mission—to connect people with history, nature, and local pride.
The new site structure makes it easier for users to explore events, room hire, and café offerings—while also learning about the region’s rich heritage and how to get involved.
Built with usability in mind, the WordPress site empowers the LOI team to manage their content independently. We also provided hands-on training and ongoing support.
The result is a vibrant, secure, and easy-to-navigate website that supports Land of Oak and Iron’s vision and makes a real impact across their community.
